About Me
I am a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at the Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand. I am interested in applications of statistics to problems in genetics and ecology, especially those involving hierarchical or latent variable modelling. Consequently, I also have an interest in stochastic computation techniques such as MCMC.
I grew up in the United States and received my Ph.D. from the Statistics Department at the University of Washington in Seattle. I came to Massey in 2004 following a postdoc split between the Institute of Statistics and Decision Sciences at Duke University (ISDS) and the Statistics and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI). For more detailed information about my professional activities, interests and background, see the links at right, and my CV (pdf).
I am the associate editor for the Annotated Bibliography section of the ISBA Bulletin. I welcome suggestions from ISBA members for topics they would like to see in the Annotated Bibliography section.
