Mathematical Physics at Massey University, Auckland

MSc and BSc(Hons)

Students will take courses in core areas of Mathematical Physics such as quantum mechanics, field theory and general relativity as well as special topics on cutting-edge physics from active researchers.

Students will engage in original research under the supervision of members of the Centre for Theoretical Chemistry and Physics and the Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences.

Topics include

  • Quantum Gases
  • Nonperturbative Field Theory
  • Nonlinear Phenomena
  • Hadronic Physics
  • Computational Physics

Course Contributors

Fees and Scholarships

Under reciprocal arrangements, students from the following countries can study in New Zealand for domestic tuition fees: New Zealand, Australia, Germany, France. For German students there may be further financial support available through the DAAD.

Scholarships for domestic tuition fees are available from Massey University. Further scholarships for research students are available from the Institute of Fundamental Sciences. Please inquire about these opportunities with Dr Joachim Brand or Dr Patrick Bowman.

Commonwealth scholarships for Masters students for some developing Commonwealth Countries are sponsored by the NZ government. Further information is available at the NZAID web site.
