Knowledge Management in Research 2010
by Bruce White, College Liaison
Knowledge Management In Research (KMIR) is a series of workshops designed to provide Massey academic staff and doctoral students with an understanding of the modern knowledge environment that will allow them to locate and manage information with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The 2010 programme and the enrolment form have been posted on the Library's website in the Tours and Classes section -

You can find the programme at any time by searching the keyword kmir from any page on the Massey website. The first round of workshops will be taking place on the three main campuses in February.
More about this item
Survey feedback from Library users often includes comments like “an abstract from your books would be helpful on-line just to have an idea if the book would be helpful”.
Well now you can – simply by clicking on the
button from the catalogue record.
If you are looking at the record for a book – the “More About This Item” button will open a pop-up window allowing you to see where else in NZ the book is held, whether there are previews, summaries and reviews, and where you can buy a copy.
If you are looking at the record for a journal title, then a similar pop-up window will open when you click on the “More About This Item” button, but this time you will get links to further information about the journal (such as whether it is peer-reviewed, how often it is published and what it costs, how to go about submitting an article for publication), and what its rank and impact factor are.
You can also see which other NZ libraries hold the journal.
Article Finder is a new feature which we have just implemented. It is a way of getting more directly to your specific article, rather than having to match up the citation with Massey’s holdings, and click through a number of screens until you get to the full text.
Click on the link at the bottom of the “More About This Item” page. If you have details of a specific article then you can type some of the citation information into the Article Finder form. As a minimum, you need to fill in the year, volume and issue and start page.
