Google Scholar and MasseyLink
Updated 03/03/10: Good news everyone! Google Scholar is now picking up MasseyLink again. If you’re on campus, you shouldn’t have to adjust your Scholar Preferences, but if you’re off-campus, you will need to go to Scholar Preferences, type in Massey in the Library Links box, wait for Massey University Library to appear, tick it and then Save Preferences. Happy researching!
The MasseyLink text link in Google Scholar search results is not currently appearing, due to a recent upgrade of Library systems. The library has contacted the appropriate parties to rectify this situation, but it may take a few days.
Until then you will need to use the Library Catalogue to see if we have the item you require.
Apologies for the inconvenience. We'll let you know when the service is back up and running.

Gaggle of Librarians
Librarians from Albany, Wellington and Palmerston North campuses are getting together at Turitea Library on Wednesday & Thursday this week (28-29 October) - and it might get noisy.
The College Liaison and Information Services Librarians will be meeting to work on various initiatives, including embedding Library help into Stream, making video demos, and Information Desk service. This will be in the Training Room on Level 2, so the computers in that room won't be available, but other than that you probably won't notice us.
However, on Wednesday evening we're having a bit of a do (a Trivia Quiz, what else?) in the Staff Room on Level 3. It will almost certainly be noisy up there in the Concourse/Marsden corner of the building. If you need quiet to study, you might want to find a space at the other end of Level 3 or on Level 1. We're sorry to do this to you at exam time, but this is the only time of year we can schedule these Team Days.
OK, so what do you call a group of librarians?

We're too hot
Yes, we agree with you that Turitea Library is far too hot and stuffy, particularly in the Information Commons area on Level 2. Check out student comments on Facebook Massey Library = Sauna (thanks Alice for the page & the great artwork), or leave a comment below.
We're working with Regional Facilities Management (RFM) to find a solution. At the moment the temperature and CO2 levels are being monitored. Hopefully we'll soon be able to come up with ways to improve the environment. In the meantime, we do what we can with fans and windows, and we really don't mind you studying in singlets and stubbies.

Queues for Computers
Computers are in high demand at this time of Semester, so we're asking you to consider others when there is a queue.
Facebook and similar social networking sites, gaming, and other non-study related use of the computers should be saved for when there's no queue.
And we know you sometimes need to pop out for a bit, but computers left unattended for longer than 15 minutes may be logged off by Library staff.
Students in the queue want to get on with assignments, and librarians don't want to be computer police! A bit of consideration will go a long way towards making the queues shorter, and everyone happier. Thanks.
